Thigh Lift Plastic Surgery in Culver City, CA

The purpose of a thigh lift is to correct sagging skin below the waist. Gravity can have a more profound effect on the lower body. There is a tendency for lax skin to pool below the waist. With a thigh lift, lax skin can be tightened and your movement will be revitalized.

What Is a Thigh Lift?

Thigh lift procedures are performed to remove excess skin and fat from the inside of the thigh, the outside of the thigh, and even from the knee if necessary. The procedure is usually performed for those who have ptosis (sagging skin), and may involve some liposuction to remove any excess fat.

Incisions are carefully placed in the least conspicuous areas in order to provide Dr. Partovi with the necessary access to excess skin, fat, and other tissue. An incision is usually made above the bikini line in the groin area.

If the procedure is extensive, the incision may move to the buttocks, around part of the thigh, or around the full thigh. In cases of severe ptosis or knee lifts, vertical incisions may be made along the inside of the leg.

In the course of the procedure, excess skin, fat, and tissue are removed. The remaining skin, tissue, muscles, and ligaments are supported by deep sutures.

The procedure of thigh lifts is performed under general anesthesia. It is common for patients to be able to go home the same day of surgery, but if the surgery was more extensive, Dr. Partovi may recommend that you remain in the hospital for a few days.

In order to minimize swelling and remove excess fluids after surgery, drainage tubes will be installed, and you will wear compression clothing for several days (and may extend into a few weeks). In addition to supporting your new shape and contour, compression garments also help to minimize swelling.

Benefits of a thigh lift surgery include:

  • You’ll fit better in bespoke clothing
  • Friction between the legs is reduced
  • Friction-induced sores are reduced
  • Legs that are attractive and fit your frame
  • Muscle definition is enhanced
  • Stretch marks will appear to be less prominent
  • Improves hygiene
  • Reduces the risk of infection

Preparing for Your Thigh Lift Surgery

A thigh lift is a major procedure. It is important that you prepare adequately for your recovery. Make sure your refrigerator is stocked with easy-to-make meals. The first few days following surgery may be a good time to arrange to leave children and pets with a loved one or friend.

To ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results, please follow Dr. Partovi’s pre-operative instructions. To minimize unnecessary trips to the pharmacy during your recovery, fill any antibiotics or pain medication prescriptions ahead of time.

You will be completely asleep during the thigh lift procedure, which typically involves general anesthesia. If possible, arrange for a partner or close friend to accompany you home. It is likely that you will be too groggy to drive yourself home after your surgery. When you’re recovering from a thigh lift, you’ll have difficulty moving around, so have someone stay with you or check on you frequently.

Here is a checklist of everything you need to prepare for a thigh lift:

  • Make sure you fill your prescriptions in advance
  • Make arrangements for child and pet care during your first week of recovery if you can
  • Make sure you have easy-to-prepare meals on hand
  • Make arrangements for a “recovery buddy” to pick you up and help you during your first week after surgery
  • Be sure to follow the instructions given by your doctor

The Thigh Lift Procedure

Thighplasty is major surgery. Depending on what sort of thigh lift you are receiving, the pattern of your incision will vary. The following is a brief description of these incision patterns.

Medial Thigh Lift

The “mini-thigh lift” procedure performed by Dr. Partovi involves making an incision along your inner thigh, near your inseam. In some cases, the incision extends around the back of the thigh. The purpose of this procedure is to remove sagging skin between the legs.

Lateral Thigh Lift

When Dr. Partovi performs a lateral thigh lift, he cuts along the outer thighs to remove the saddlebags of skin. Leg skin that is loose can sometimes hang from the hips. A lateral leg lift is frequently combined with complementary procedures by Dr. Partovi to achieve comprehensive results.

Spiral Thigh Lift

Spiral thigh lifts are performed by making an incision on the posterior side of the thigh in order to target the back of the legs and buttocks. The first incision that Dr. Partovi makes is under the buttocks in the gluteal fold. He then begins lifting, smoothing, and removing skin until your youthful contours have returned to their original state.

The wound is closed with deep sutures. This will facilitate a safe healing process as your final results are revealed over the next month and a half.

Candidates for Thigh Lifts

Candidates for a thigh lift should be within a few pounds of their desired weight. Their goal is to contour their bodies in a manner that is more natural and youthful. Very often, candidates have lost significant amounts of weight or are experiencing symptoms similar to pregnancy or motherhood.

Thigh Lift Results

You can expect the following results after your thigh lift:

  • Inner thighs that appear more youthful, tight, and attractive.
  • A large scar that may remain thick and red for a long period of time, but will begin to fade with time. It takes between 12 and 18 months for it to reach its final appearance.
  • As a result of a thigh lift, smoother, tighter contours are evident almost immediately, although swelling and bruising initially obscure the results.

Recovering From a Thigh Lift Procedure

After surgery, you will need to take antibiotics and pain medication for a few days. It is recommended that people take two weeks off from work, as well as refrain from driving during that time. It should be possible for you to resume most normal activities within six weeks and strenuous activities within a few weeks after that.

Patients should have someone accompany them home after surgery and, if possible, assist them around the house for a couple of days following the procedure. The role of your “recovery buddy” can be crucial in simple daily tasks, such as going to the bathroom and preparing meals. For the healing process to be effective, patients should remain seated or standing during this period.

During sleep, patients should lie back with their legs slightly bent. Pillows placed under the knees are often helpful in enhancing comfort. Whenever you are resting, it is important not to stretch your legs too far out. This will prevent further stress being placed on the thighs and sutures that have already been placed.
