How Do They Work?

Exosomes are like little messengers. They carry information from one cell to another, across the walls of blood vessels, and into other tissues.

When an exosome reaches its destination cell, these molecules allow it to dock with the cell and merge with it. Therefore, it can deliver whatever cargo it contains. This could be DNA or RNA needed for growth or repair processes within that particular cell type.

Exosomes also help regulate how healthy cells grow. For example, when you’re pregnant, some exosomes from your placenta travel up your body to help your baby grow big enough for birth.
